| Headline: Area Nonprofit Aims to Beautify Burlington |
The landscape around Burlington is getting a facelift. The New Leaf Society is a one-year-old nonprofit organization started by Alan Gant, president and CEO of Glen Raven Inc. The group spent the past year raising $230,000 in donations, $100,000 of which was a match from Mr. Gant. The group is in the process of planting 292 trees and 1,692 shrubs and perennials along two local corridors. A new marble fountain will also be installed as part of the image enhancement.
